music is a majorly important part of my life and personality. believe it or not, i started with bruce springsteen and madonna. then i tried inxs, which didn't do too well here. so i moved to guns n' roses, then motley crue. here are a few groups i am into now.
-- best Detroit radio station, great rock, and Drew and Mike in the morning.
-- best Toledo radio station, great rock, and Bob and Tom in the morning.
(personally, i like Bob and Tom better than Drew and Mike.) i get both these
stations where i am, and listen to both.
-- possibly the greatest metal/rock band ever. my single favorite
band. i like almost all their songs, and, yes, i even like their new stuff!
"load," "reload," and "s+m" too. (garage inc.
can go off by itself for all i care, but there are still a few good songs
on it. astronomy is cool!) their new style is just that: stylish! it seperates
metallica fans from people who like music, talent and style. here's another
good site recommended by the band.
personally i like the other better though.
-- when metallica kicked dave mustaine out so rudely and suddenly, it must
have been pretty traumatic for him. but for the rest of the heavy metal world,
dave was soon to discover that it was one of the best things to ever happen
for us. here is a site run by the band with a chat room that the band runs
and yaks on from time to time. tour dates, fan newsletter, etc. and here
is a page for lyrics
-- one of the
most talented groups i've ever listened to. they went through some style
alterations, but they still rock. if you've never heard them before, i recommend
starting with "images and words."
-- mike portnoy's (dream theater) side band with guitarist john petrucci
(dream theater), keyboardist jordan rudess (formerly rudess-morgenstein project,
now dream theater), and bassist tony levin (studio bassist, but probably
moving to dream theater some day). all instrumental, some of which is completely
IMPROV! yes, a few "hey that sounded good, play that again" mistake
songs and "three minute warning" is a half hour improvised unscripted
jam session! these guys are one of the most TALENTED groups i have ever heard!
-- comedy and parody king. just cannot get enough of this hilarious devil!
=) have you heard "Albequerque"? DAMN! i think therapy did NOT
work for that boy! and no, he's no relation to Frankie Yankovic, "the
polka king", oddly enough.
-- honestly, i don't have any of their albums, yet, they are still in the
test mode for me. but i really like their style, music, vocals and especially
their lyrics on many of their songs. i recommend "Edge of Thorns"
and "Handful of Rain".
-- definitely unique, a combination of heavy metal and operetic vocals! a
beautiful voice, head-banging music and lyrics like fantasy poetry. a must
for the picky connoisseur of Style and Talent!
-- yes i listened to them, and yes i liked most of their stuff. really good
songs and some damn good albums. they kinda dropped off after Dr. Feelgood,
though. here's a better page of lyrics.
-- considered by many to be the greatest guitarist in the world. MAX Style!
MAX Talent! nothing else needs to be said! except "Listen to it!"
-- considered by many to be the second greatest guitarist in the world, giving
way to his teacher and mentor, Joe Satriani. unique style and extreme talent
combine to make this guy one of the most enjoyable listening experiences
one could possibly have. and, those who know me, know i don't make that claim
lightly! (here is his "Official Site"
but when i try to check it, it keeps having problems. i don't know what's
going on with it, but if you should find it working, please let me know and
i will make it the primary link.)
-- YES! i DO like yanni.... YES! i DO think he's sexy... and YES! i DO think
he's extremely talented and stylish. great relaxation music and some intense,
passionate stuff, too. only good for those who love style and talent.
